Alfred G. Etter papers, 1938-1993.

Collection contains Alfred Etter's personal and business correspondence, subject files (which contain correspondence, clippings, manuscripts, notes, and printed materials), and field notebooks. Collection also contains aerial photographs of the Mississippi River and Etter's photographs and photograph negatives of predator control images, landscapes, stream bed erosion, development near streams, and scenes from the Morton Arboretum. Etter's article manuscripts (originals and copies), Etter's research notes concerning species variations, clippings (including articles written by Etter), thirteen 16 mm motion picture films (including those titled "Boy on a Farm" and "Mississippi"), and miscellaneous printed materials are in this collection as well.

Alfred Etter (1919-1978) was an American naturalist during the twentieth century. Etter earned his A.B. in Geology from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1941. He later studied with conservationist Aldo Leopold at the University of Wisconsin, then earned his Ph. D in Botany from Washington University.
